ICL – Implantable Contact Lenses

ICL Post-op Care

ICL surgery creates an incision in the cornea (front window of the eye) smaller than 1/8 of an inch.  The very thin lens is then inserted into the eye and tucked behind the iris where it floats in position.  Post-operative care is very simple:

  • A few medication eye drops are used three times daily to help prevent an infection and keep the eye comfortable while it heals.
  • You should be gentle, with no rubbing the eye for a few weeks while the incisions heal.
  • No swimming for one week, you can get in a pool but keep your head above the water.
  • There are no restrictions to everyday activities.  Very vigorous activities should be avoided for a week or two (like skydiving, or mixed martial arts).
